Severa GPRS

Severa

With the Severa GPRS model, you are always on-line with your frontline applications. The Severa's unique 'auto log-on' reduces the often complex GPRS technology to standard modem technology. The ComBridge software located on the central computer presents the data from the Severa via a virtual COM port, e.g. SCADA software or your own application. This allows you a simple way of changing existing dial-up connections into GPRS connections, without having to adjust your application.

If the GPRS connection is lost, the system automatically switches to GSM, so that status and alarm information is sent in the form of SMS messages.

The unique Severa GPRS "auto log-on" concept

While standard GPRS modems always require special GPRS AT commands to maintain connections, and in some cases even an IP stack, the Severa GPRS concept makes all that superfluous. When the system is started up, the connection is automatically established and the built-in IP stack is activated. With this "auto log-on" function, the connection is available at any time, allowing you to send data immediately. For replacing existing modems, the Severa can also emulate the AT commands of an analogue modem, if necessary. For redundancy purposes, the Severa can communicate with 2 IP addresses.

Adesys can also provide the server software needed for your central station or SCADA system. That software serves as a bridge between the GPRS network and your application.

Simple way of changing existing applications to GPRS

modem

Switching from analogue modems to GPRS requires the bare minimum of effort. Your old application, designed for standard modem control, probably uses the standard AT commands. The Severa emulates those commands, making it a one-on-one replacement. Your application will notice nothing of the transition to GPRS. This means that you do not lose your prior investments in application software. The Adesys server software with virtual COM port replaces the analogue modem in your central station or SCADA system.
